摘要: There is a lack of consensus among studies on the possible risks stroke from cigarette smoking; because this meta-analysis was conducted. All published data association were sought and relative risk for each study obtained whenever possible. The pooled calculated by using estimates precision individual to weight their contribution meta-analysis. Thirty two separate analysed. overall associated with smoking 1.5 (95% confidence interval 1.4 1.6). Considerable differences seen in subtypes: cerebral infarction 1.9, haemorrhage 0.7, subarachnoid 2.9. An effect age also noted; less than 55 years 2.9, 55-74 1.8, greater or equal 75 1.1. A dose response between number cigarettes smoked noted, there small increased women compared men. Ex-smokers under seemed retain an appreciably (1.5); all ages ex-smokers 1.2. provides strong evidence excess smokers. Stroke should therefore be added list diseases related smoking.
