摘要: In yttrium‐iron garnet, iron may be entirely replaced by aluminum and gallium; chromium, scandium, indium substituted for to a limited extent. Substitution proceeds on steric basis the nonmagnetic ions: Al3+ Ga3+, which are smaller than Fe3+, preferentially occupy smaller, tetrahedrally coordinated positions, 24(d); Sc3+ In3+ ions, larger larger, octahedrally 16(a). The Cr3+ ion, though occupies octahedral position, presumably because of its electronic configuration. magnetic moment initially increases with substitution decreases tetrahedral substitution. Curie temperature is decreased ions as consequence decrease in number Fe3+–O2−–Fe3+ interactions.
