摘要: Gray cast iron (GCI) is a popular automotive brake disc material by virtue of its high melting point as well excellent heat storage and damping capability. GCI also attractive because good castability machinability, combined with cost-effectiveness. Although several lightweight alloys have been explored alternatives in an attempt to achieve weight reduction, their widespread use has limited low inherent costs. Therefore, still the preferred for discs due robust performance. However, poor corrosion resistance excessive wear during service continue be areas concern, latter leading emissions form dust particulate matter that adverse effects on human health. With exhaust emission norms becoming increasingly stringent, it important address problem without compromising braking performance material. Surface treatment suitable coating represents promising solution this problem. This paper reviews different technologies materials traditionally used examines prospects some emergent thermal spray technologies, along industrial implications adopting them applications.
