摘要: Chimpanzee conservation is dependent on addressing key threats such as habitat degradation, which fueled by collection of firewood in Uganda's Kibale National Park. To address this threat, sustained behavior change that reduces dependence fuelwood needed. One the greatest challenges for education programs and campaigns to have long-term consistent effects communities. Teacher trainings potential influence a large number students over an extended period time. In study, we tested if teacher training activity designed reduce community impact environment thus encroachment critical chimpanzee habitat-construction fuel-efficient stoves (FES)-could lead retained knowledge attitude improvements well behavioral communities around Park up 2 years after initial topic. We consistently found student between beginning end year third- sixth-grade 11 program schools, but not four control schools. addition, FES built 120 teachers engaged their continued average 150 per across 4 years.
