摘要: Abstract Readily available laboratory, in situ, and inferred values of permeability, k, crystalline argillaceous rocks have been compared. For rocks, situ k ranged from about 1 μd (10−14 cm2) to 100 md; for it was 0.01 μd. No systematic decrease with depth evident; over some interval at nearly every well, these highly conductive intervals were as deep 2–3 km. In permeability has earthquake precursors, anomalous pore pressure, leakage aquifers or other large-scale phenomena. Where are involved, 0.1 10 md, thus the same more permeable zones wells; this is close many sandstones 103 times greater than laboratory, measurements intact rocks. all agreed within a factor 10. Laboratory study artificial fractures suggest that high because natural fractures; may be sealed absent shale. Based on observed variation wells, particular sites rock not predictable 105. laboratory provide little minimum k; they good estimate k. Because great sensitivity effective stress, measurement estimation must tailored stress state application. If, tentatively suggested by , average crustal pressure much hydrostatic seems ruled out terrains outcropping Apart hot pluton environments, anomalously pressures seem require everywhere thick blanket clay-rich originally sedimentary basins.
