摘要: BACKGROUND: Numerous studies have addressed the problem of hazardous alcohol consumption, alcohol-related causes death and their relationship to persisting excess male mortality in countries former USSR. Yet relatively little is known about geographical patterns within these cross-border continuities such patterns. This study aims at identifying spatial distribution adult from poisonings liver cirrhosis Belarus Lithuania. METHODS: We use cause-specific data for 2003-2007. employ econometric techniques detect 'hot spots' across combined territory two countries. RESULTS: Specific associated with extremely high rates poisoning can be observed Belarus, particularly areas bordering Russia Meanwhile, alcohol-induced disease dominate Lithuania, continue border eastern Lithuania into north-western Belarus. CONCLUSIONS: The districts located along Belarusian-Lithuanian appear especially problematic, as they suffer an enormous burden consumption. situation severe on Belarusian side, where there are levels both cirrhosis. These should considered primary targets antialcohol policies. Language: en
