摘要: Flat and cylindrical adhesive boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis Boheman (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), pheromone traps captured significantly more (P < or = 0.05) weevils than the Hercon (Hercon Environmental, Emigsville, PA) trap during late cotton-growing season, larger areas were associated with higher captures; a flat plywood board collected most because it had largest surface area. The trap, chosen for measuring large late-season adult weevil populations common to Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas in 2000 2001, when deployed proximity natural cultivated perennial vegetation, mean numbers 0.0001) on leeward sides windward sides. an estimated potential capacity approximately 27,800 weevils, allowed accurate measurements limited trap. Measurement after routine field operations defoliation, harvest, shredding, stalk-pulling, demonstrated that persist cotton fields even crop has been destroyed. Increases percentage variation trapped relative just before each operation observed but variations followed quadratic pattern significant correlation 0.0001; 0.59 adjusted r2 0.73). Numbers caught at 15.24-m intervals edges suggested flight disturbances might be affected by large-capacity trapping.
