Attitudes Toward Ecosystem Management in the United States, 1992-1998

摘要: Ecosystem management has been formally adopted by a large number of state and federal agencies forest products firms associations. But little research examined people's attitudes toward this new approach to natural resource management. This study used computer methods measure favorable unfavorable towardecosystem expressed in 1500 online news media stories over the period 1992 through 1998. We found that ecosystem is on downside "issue attention cycle," with total quantity discussion concept rising early 1990s, declining during mid leveling out recent years. Wealso about 78% all have favorable, comparable past based surveys public. Our analysis suggests may become "settled" (i.e., noncontroversial) issue broad public acceptance.
