Crystal Growth of a New 8H Perovskite Sr8Os6.3O24 Exhibiting High TC Ferromagnetism

摘要: Single crystals of a new twinned hexagonal perovskite compound Sr8Os6.3O24 have been synthesized, and structural magnetic properties determined. The crystallizes in cell with lattice parameters = 9.6988(3) A c 18.1657(5) A. structure is an eight-layered B-site deficient the layer sequence (ccch)2 represents first example among 5d oxides adopting twin option. sample shows spontaneous ferromagnetic magnetization below 430 K small saturation moment 0.11 {\mu}B/Os ion. This highest Curie temperature (TC) reported for any bulk containing only ions at B site.
