摘要: Underfeeding resulting from a negative energy balance during the acute phase of ill- ness induces development progressive malnutrition. Malnutrition is strongly related to in- creased mortality and complications, mainly septic morbidity. Nutritional support should there- fore be considered an integral component standard care critically ill patients. We compared data prospective randomized study determine variable costs carried out in 1999 retrospective analysis nutritional practice 2004. The Italian ICU review presented here has aim highlight limiting factors extensive use as recommended international literature. An additional suggest way improve intensive units.
