Improved thiophene solution selectivity by Cu2+, Pb2+ and Mn2+ ions in pervaporative poly[bis(p-methyl phenyl) phosphazene]desulfurization membrane

摘要: Abstract Due to interfacial defects and agglomeration, role of metal ions in mixed matrix membrane during pervaporation is not fairly demonstrated fully taken advantage of. Through surface modification pristine PMePP the followed ion exchange treatments, PMePP-M membranes containing Cu2+, Mn2+, or Pb2+ were obtained. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis confirms successful onto surface. Pervaporation results show that removal thiophene from model gasoline by modified a solution-diffusion controlled process while it shifts solution for membranes. It provides important evidence facilitated mass transport via ions. superior selectivity Robeson type plot their performance locates above upper bound literature reported permeability selectivity. In meantime, proved post-treatment control oxidation temperature can compensate decrease pervaporative flux caused change hydrophobicity introduction electric charge.
