摘要: Domestic livestock have replaced bison (Bison bison) on almost all the remaining rangelands of North America. One few places where and cattle (Bos taurus) comingle shared is in Henry Mountains (HM) southern Utah. Ranchers there are concerned, however, that selecting same grazing areas needed by cattle. We used global positioning system telemetry across entire HM rangeland to determine which habitats most important for throughout seasonal cycle. Sexual segregation was also measured (using coefficient, SC) if bulls exert localized impacts congregating certain separate from cow/calf groups. The exhibited low levels sexual both breeding (SC = 0.048) nonbreeding seasons 0.112). found habitat use be diverse dynamic, with effects distributed widely Patches grassland, whether naturally occurring or created through burning mechanical treatments, were favored regardless their distance water. Our findings should assist ranchers agency personnel moving forward integrated management free-ranging rangeland, implications conservation public lands elsewhere United States.
