摘要: Elemental analyses of fines in the Martian regolith at two widely separated landing sites, Chryse Planitia and Utopia Planitia, produced remarkably similar results. At both uppermost contains abundant Si Fe, with significant concentrations Mg, Al, S, Ca, Ti. The S concentration is one to orders magnitude higher, K(<0.25 percent by weight) least 5 times lower than average for earth's crust. trace elements Sr, Y, possibly Zr, have been detected near or below 100 parts per million. Pebblesized fragments sampled contain more bulk fines, are thought be pieces a sulfate-cemented duricrust.
