摘要: To evaluate the influence of excessive N deposition on water consumption a Japanese plantation forest, 1-year-old seedlings major trees, Cryptomeria japonica (Japanese cedar) and Chamaecyparis obtusa (Hinoki cypress), were treated with combinations two levels (Moderate High N) soil conditions (Dry Moist) for 4 months. The treatment received five times as much in Moderate treatment; total amount added was roughly 25 annual precipitation. An increase availability increased needle transpiration rate, biomass, content C. under Moist treatment, whereas those not significantly affected by at either level. Needle positively related to photosynthetic rate rate. Our results suggested that has potential enhance stands moist soils. However, effects would be insignificant grown dry sites. Unlike japonica, unlikely respond excess deposition, regardless moisture Moreover, significant reduction fine root ratio observed application both Dry treatments suggests is likely cancel out tree's morphological adaptation drought.
