摘要: People who study mating systems or behavioural aspects of sperm competition in birds are aware the importance breeding synchrony a population. Birkhead and Moller (1992) summarize some ideas on how synchrony, by affecting operational sex ratio, may have an influence for example copulation behaviour mate guarding. In general, idea is that more synchronous population is, fewer options males to attract extra mates become polygynous (see also Oring 1982) engage extra-pair copulations. If we want understand effect when comparing between both species populations same species, need measure under study. Many researchers these necessary data, but they rarely presented their papers. Bj6rklund Westman (1986) developed index, which takes into account differences size duration fertile period. However, index suffers from minor error formula. By presenting here correct formula, I hope people will be encouraged use it, so data available can easily compared. The formula (SI) is:
