摘要: Respiratory conditions, both acute and chronic, continue to have a significant impact on worldwide health because of their high prevalence, the disease burden they place individual health, enormous cost care system. There are also unmeasured indirect economic costs due loss productivity. Despite advances in our understanding complex pathophysiology respiratory diseases, as well availability relatively straightforward primary prevention measures, prevalence chronic diseases continues rise. In addition, periodic outbreaks infectious conditions result even mortality, incidence these fluctuates widely from year year. Although we seen recent developments medical therapies for there established well-publicized management guidelines, morbidity mortality remain high. One intervention that has lagged behind been smoking cessation, which is mainstay obstructive pulmonary lung cancer. The persistence underscores vulnerabilities within national regional systems. Several articles this issue NCMJ describe innovative programs address challenges.
