摘要: It was shown more than 40 years ago that a half-filled one-dimensional (1D) metal submitted either to dimerization of its ionic periodicity (Peierls 1955) or an antiferro-magnetic ordering electronic spins (Slater 1951) undergoes transition towards non conducting ground state. More generally it is now proved such gap opening occurs if lattice spin modulation introduces the 2π/2kF in structure, where 2kF twice Fermi wave vector 1D electron gas. These states, charge density modulated, are observed many metals exhibiting anisotropic properties. modulations called waves, following general concept introduced by Overhauser (1962).
