摘要: This contribution examines the Modern Synthe- sis in light of its historical underpinnings, attempts at expansion and treatment macroevolutionary theory. Partic- ular emphasis is given to need better understand patterns processes operating on species higher-level biological entities within a hierarchical framework, as they are often not congruent with lower-level processes. We then focus oft-overlooked importance extrinsic abiotic drivers (e.g. tectonic change, sea-level climatic fluctuations, well factors resulting mass extinctions) directing evolution. propose that fundamental niche species-level property useful testing for effects extrin- sic poten- tial instances selection. Integration diverse array fields requires both addition new information standardized theoretical framework understanding how change one level reverberate other levels. These some remaining ingredients necessary building truly synthetic theory
