摘要: This study provides an extensive set of mitochondrial cytochrome b sequences for the salamander genus Pseudobranchus southeastern United States. These were analysed by multiple phylogenetic methods that support a single major phylogeographic divisions its two corroborated species (P. axanthus and P. striatus). overlap with geographic breakpoints other freshwater terrestrial taxa in this region. Collectively, these overlapping patterns highlight Central Highland Tifton/Vidalia uplands as significant barrier to Atlantic vs. Gulf coast groups, while reconfirming significance Altamaha Apalachicola river drainages. Despite their distinct split, striatus from west east are not currently recognizable separate according concordance principles definition.
