摘要: Abstract In previous studies, in situ deposition of a lithium thin layer onto graphite was found to considerably suppress physical sputtering graphite, owing rapid diffusion Li into bulk (so-called intercalation). This paper reports that the intercalation dramatically reduces chemical as well, once Li-deposited surface is cleaned by hydrogen plasma. evidenced small-scale plasma experiment on glow, comparing with an ultra-high-vacuum beam experiment. latter experiment, energy-controlled H2+ irradiated sample where methane yield measured together analysis X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Both and showed similar temporal variations after exposure graphite. Namely, gradually decreases down negligible level compared pure case. The XPS atoms (O, C, Li) suggests gives rise removal Li-containing impurities surface. As consequence, glow conditioning results almost complete suppression erosion below 500 K.
