摘要: Vitamin D deficiency is common among children and adolescents in India, spite of abundant sunshine. We conducted a pilot; double blind randomised controlled trial to investigate the effect vitamin supplementation on bone mineral content underprivileged adolescent girls, Pune, India. Fifty post-menarcheal girls aged 14 15 years were receive 300,000 IU (7.5 mg) ergocalciferol or placebo orally, 4 times/year. All participants received 250 mg elemental calcium (calcium carbonate) daily. Outcome measures included change serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D, size adjusted area at total body lumbar spine. Post supplementation, median concentration was 75.2 (64.2-85.5) nmol/L intervention group 28.1 (16.7-34.0) group. Increment outcome not different two groups. However, there positive (p<0.05), (p<0.05) spine trend (p=0.07) who within 2 menarche. conclude that did have beneficial skeletal mineralization more than post menarcheal. significant area, ≤
