摘要: Recent work has suggested that bacteriophages infecting Bacteroides are a potential tool for faecal source tracking, but different host strains may be needed geographic areas. This study used recently identified strain of (GB-124) to detect human sources pollution in river catchment southeast England (UK). A total 306 water, municipal wastewater and animal samples were obtained over 16-month period. Bacteriophages capable GB-124 present all wastewaters not detected from animals, at significantly lower levels (P< 0.001) waters directly downstream dairy farm. last observation was despite the presence high indicator bacteria this site. The suggests appears specific faeces. As such it represent an effective low-cost method identification.
