Management of Febrile Episodes in Neutropenic Patients Defining the Role of Meropenem

摘要: Search strategy: AdisBase search terms were ‘meropenem’, ‘meronem’, ‘meropen’, ‘merrem’, ‘ICI 194660’, 213689’, ‘SM 7338’ ‘neutropenia’, ‘disease management’, ‘guidelines’, decision making’, ‘health policy’ and ‘managed care programs’. Medline ‘consensus’, ‘policy’, ‘practice guideline commentary’ management’. Searches last updated 1 Feb 1999. Selection: Studies in neutropenic patients with febrile episodes who received meropenem. Inclusion of studies was based mainly on the methods section trials. When available, large, well controlled trials appropriate statistical methodology preferred. Relevant pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic pharmacoeconomic data are also included. Index terms: Meropenem, serious infections, neutropenia, antibacterial activity, pharmacokinetics, therapeutic use, pharmacoeconomics, disease management.
