Sociotropy, autonomy, and self-discrepancy : Status in depressed, remitted depressed, and control participants

摘要: This study examined the status of sociotropy,autonomy, and self-discrepancy in clinically depressed(N = 28), remitted depressed (N 20), controlindividuals 20). Results from Personal Style Inventory (PSI)and Selves Questionnaireindicated that depressed, remitted, controlparticipants differed significantly their levels ofsociotropy, autonomy, actual-ideal discrepancy.Results were predicted direction with depressedparticipants evidencing highest thesevariables, participants next highest, andcontrol lowest. Both sociotropy autonomy correlated withactual-ideal discrepancy. Each three variablesstudied accounted for unique variance currentdepression. Together they 48% depression scores. studyprovides support relation discrepancyto depression, andsuggests a need greater attention to issues ofavailability accessibility area depressionresearch.
