摘要: To examine the association between ingested inorganic arsenic and prevalence of diabetes mellitus, in 1988, authors studied 891 adults residing villages southern Taiwan where arseniasis is hyperendemic. The status mellitus was determined by an oral glucose tolerance test a history regularly treated with sulfonylurea or insulin. cumulative exposure parts per million-years calculated from detailed residential addresses duration drinking artesian well water obtained through standardized interviews based on structured questionnaire concentration water. body mass index derived height weight measured according to standard protocol, while physical activity at work also interviews. Residents chronic hyperendemic had twofold increase age- sex-adjusted compared residents Taipei City area. There dose-response relation mellitus. remained significant after adjustment for age, sex, index, level multiple logistic regression analysis giving multivariate-adjusted odds ratio 6.61 10.05, respectively, those who 0.1-15.0 greater than 15.0 ppm-year were unexposed. These results suggest may induce humans.
