摘要: Abstract Objective: To establish the effect of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on expression matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) and tissue inhibitor MMPs, TIMP-1, in endometrium postmenopausal perimenopausal women. Design: Prospective observational study. Setting: United Kingdom teaching hospital. Patient(s): Thirty-one HRT recipients, with a control group eight women not undergoing HRT. Intervention(s): record bleeding patterns endometrial biopsy. Main Outcome Measure(s): Endometrial histology, patterns, MMP-9, TIMP-1 expression. Result(s): MMP-9 are expressed benign endometrium. Expression both molecules is reduced recipients compared non–HRT recipients. Conclusion(s): Exposure to appears alter also local balance between these molecules. This alteration may promote breakdown extracellular blood vessels hence bleeding.
