摘要: [1] This paper examines the stability of rip currents with shore-normal wave forcing using numerical analyses nonlinear base flows. Leading order diffraction and wave-current interaction effects are included, depth-varying also treated in a parameterized manner. Stable unstable eigenmodes identified variety forms. For strength O(0.5 m/s), instabilities seen family resemblance to oscillating sinuous jets, as well more complex low O(0.3 these modes stabilize but replaced by varicose that extend far offshore believed be convective made absolutely through interaction. Quantitative values for growth rates found strongly dependent on details velocity field coefficient bottom friction. Peak vorticity was good predictor oscillation periods jet modes.
