摘要: Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has suppressed viral replication and facilitated normalization of T cell subsets, resulting in restoration immunity against opportunistic pathogens. Induction full immune chronically infected individuals, including HIV-specific helper responses, is considered a priority, particularly if immunological control HIV to be achieved. Regimens containing dual protease inhibitors (PIs) have provided greater suppression viremia than single-PI regimens. We therefore conducted prospective analysis factors associated with after 3 years two cohorts acutely HIV-infected patients, comparing dual- versus Earlier more durable returns p24-specific proliferation were demonstrated patients receiving dual-PI compared Individuals restored p24 responses had larger reductions total cytotoxic lymphocytes (CTLs) stronger suppression, but Gag-specific CTLs remained higher, demonstrating that critical component functional restoration. On examination clinical restoration, we decreasing activation CD8+ cells (%CD8+ CD38+) increasing proportions CD4+ independently responses. Minimal activation, from maximal replication, was required for long-term maintenance This study uniquely demonstrates regimens are superior achieving these levels virological both chronic acute infection, or non-PI
