摘要: This is an epidemiological and demographic study of 1285 transsexuals in the Netherlands. The data were collected from 1975 to end 1992. Over 95% Dutch have been treated at center. Between 1984 annual number female-to-male increased, stabilizing thereafter. In male-to-female this trend continued up 1989, declining slightly last 5 years on average 50 (range 38–60) 21 14–25) received surgical and/or hormonal treatment yearly. sex ratio remained stable over period: 3 male vs. 1 female subject. calculated prevalence transsexualism Netherlands 1:11,900 males 1:30,400 females. Transsexuals live predominantly urbanized areas, but those living nonurbanized areas show even distribution country. majority apply for reassignment between ages 20–25, seldom middle ages. do so 25–30 middle-aged subjects are not rare. 77–80% both categories receive treatment. Five regretted reassignment.
