摘要: In the last decade iron aluminide composites containing carbon have been developed through ingot metallurgy routes. Work on Fe-Al alloys 15 to 50 atom% Al and up 16 is reviewed here. Presence of in alloy may lead savings processing material costs. It also improves machinability ordered aluminides. Carbide formation matrix results significant improvements strength creep resistance. The work so far has concentrated with low (<35 atom%) Al-contents based disordered α-phase Fe3Al because at ∼37 or above graphite occur Fe-Al-C alloys. Alloys carbide as major phase were found be very brittle. presence limit role substitution alloying elements such Cr, Mo Ti. affect hydrogen mobility these which are susceptible induced cracking. These factors analysed. An assessment progress made development aluminides presented along possible directions for future work.
