Composite silicon carbide coatings for carbon-carbon materials

摘要: A multilayer coating system for the protection of carbon-carbon composites is described. The includes an inner layer SiC produced by diffusing Si into carbon substrate (0.5 to 30 mils thick), and at outer CVD (chemically vapor deposited) (5 thick). Such a successfully protects materials from oxidation temperatures up 2500° F. (1371° C.) above.
