摘要: Ionotropic Receptors (IRs) are a recently characterized family of olfactory receptors in the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster. IRs not related to insect Odorant (ORs), but rather have evolved from ionotropic glutamate (iGluRs), conserved synaptic ligand-gated ion channels. Here, we review expression and function Drosophila, highlighting similarities differences with iGluRs. We also briefly describe organization neuronal circuits which function, comparing contrasting them sensory pathways expressing ORs. Finally, summarize bioinformatic identification initial characterization other species, imply an evolutionarily role for these chemosensation insects protostomes.
