Substance abuse treatment with lesbian, gay and bisexual people: A qualitative study of service providers.

摘要: Abstract Substance abuse treatment for lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) individuals cannot center solely on substance abuse, but must also address the social psychological aspects of being LGB. This study uses qualitative methods to examine service providers' knowledge clinical impressions issues commonly experienced by LGB people with use problems. Focus groups individual interviews were conducted clinicians in counselling clients. The data analyzed using NUD*IST software derive salient themes presented providers. Eight major identified: openness disclosure sexual orientation treatment; “coming out” process; societal homophobia; internalized family support systems; bars life; body image; impact HIV AIDS. Examples each are provided.
