摘要: We performed a detrital zircon (DZ) U-Pb geochronologic survey of the lower parts Danube River approaching its Delta- Black Sea sink, and few large tributaries (Tisza, Jiu, Olt Siret) originating in nearby Carpathian Mountains. Samples are modern sediments. DZ age spectra reflect geology specifically crustal formation source area, which this case is primarily Romanian Carpathians their foreland with contributions from Balkan Mountains to south East European Craton. The cargo these rivers suggests area that formed during latest Proterozoic mostly into Cambrian Ordovician as island arcs backarc basins Peri-Gondwanan subduction setting (~600 -440 Ma). The Inner units dominated by peak (460-470 Ma) little inheritance continental masses, whereas Outer has two main peaks, one Ediacaran (570-610 earliest Permian (290-300 Ma), corresponding granitic rocks known regionally. A prominent igneous Variscan (320-350 Danube’s record difficult explain points out either an extra or major unknown gaps our understanding geology. Younger peaks arc magmatism Alpine period make up much about 10% archive, consistent magnitude surface exposure Mesozoic Cenozoic arcs.
