[dissertation] Sao Paulo (BR): Faculdade de Saude Publica da Universidade Paulo; 2013. Background: Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) is a complex disorder represented by combination cardiometabolic risk factors related to central obesity and insulin resistance, which directly increase the cardiovascular disease. The growth prevalence MetS follows consumption foods whose nutrient combinations are potentially adipogenic (diets high saturated fats sugar low whole grains, fruits vegetables). This new pattern food world modern western lifestyle that characterized excessive calories energy expenditure. Objective: To investigate association between patterns, some its main components adults both sexes carriers non-carriers syndrome. Methods: Crosssectional study conducted with 267 sexes. Were evaluated following data previously collected: demographic (age sex), anthropometric body composition (body mass index waist circumference), (food detected from analysis 24-hour recall), clinical biochemical (blood pressure measurement, blood sampling after 12h fasting for evaluation serum triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL-c, HDL-c glucose). Dietary (DPs) were obtained principal component subsequent statistical analyzes correlation mean comparison performed further relationship identified this method characteristics population. Results: Three distinct factor analysis, explaining 25.59% intake variance: (i) “Traditional Pattern”, rice, beans, fresh spice, vegetables, white meat, juices, coffee & teas sugar, pasta; (ii) “Healthy
