摘要: A randomized, double-blind, vaccine/placebo trial of the Merck 20-micrograms hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine was done among 1402 homosexual men attending venereal disease clinics in five American cities. Vaccination followed by only minimal side effects. Two doses induced antibody 80% recipients. booster dose 6 months after first 85% recipients and markedly increased proportion who produced high titers. The incidence HBV events less compared to that placebo (p = 0.0004). Between month 3 15 dose, 56 more significant (hepatitis, or surface antigen positive, both) occurred group while 11 group. Ten hypo- nonresponders vaccine. This appears be safe, immunogenic, efficacious preventing infection with virus.
