Pediatric hematopoietic SCT in Mexico: recent activity and main problems.

摘要: Hematopoietic SCT (HSCT) has become an established therapy for numerous disorders of the hematopoietic system and some solid tumors.1 However, owing to high cost procedure, need a multidisciplinary team, few centers in developing countries provide this treatment modality. In Mexico, history HSCT began 1980, when first transplant took place at National Institute Nutrition Mexico City. After this, there were other procedures Medical Center University Hospital Monterrey, with poor results. This resulted suspension program these institutions. As result, practice was almost anecdotal until 1995.2 been no national report, we consider it important evaluate current activity, needs perspectives field HSCT.
