摘要: Summary Electron microscopic observations have been made on small bowel biopsy specimens from 7 subjects with tropical sprue (3 treated, 4 untreated), 1 subject nontropical (before and during a glutenfree diet), 15 control subjects. Untreated revealed ultrastructural changes indicating greater reduction in the absorptive surface than had previously suspected consideration of altered forms villi. In brush border was composed microvilli which were deficient size or number, both. untreated area for absorption diminished by alterations also loss cells leading to extensive areas seem be devoid functional epithelium. Although more are needed determine how accurately these samples represent disease processes, it is suggested that drastic considered as an important factor contributing malabsorption so characteristic diseases.
