摘要: In a recent experiment at Arecibo, the ionospheric topside plasma line was enhanced by high power, frequency, radiowave, HF heater. The enhancement few orders of magnitude over normal daytime photoelectron-enhanced lines. This is first observation an in ionosphere induced critical frequency F-region (f0F2) reasonably close to (approximately 10% higher than) heater 5.1 MHz. Possible explanations include propagation via magneto-ionic Z-mode with some unknown excitation mechanism, severe inhomogenities ionosphere, or excited electrons streaming upward along magnetic field lines excite plasma.
