摘要: Leilem, which is known with the botanical name Clerodendrum minahassae, a plant species commonly used as component of almost all meat- and fish-based cuisine. In addition to enhancing flavor taste suited local people, leaves leilem also believed possess high level natural antioxidant. The this has been traditional medicine treat stomachache lung diseases. Our previous study revealed that ethanol extract beneficial antihyperlipidemic antiatherosclerotic effects on aorta Wistar rats fed lipid cholesterol levels. present was aimed at investigating phytochemical contents antioxidant activity leaves. Phytochemical screening carried out using standard methods precipitation coloration reactions. addition, total phenolics flavonoids were determined by spectrophotometric methods. Finally, leaf assayed evaluate its in vitro properties 1,1-Diphenyl picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radical assay ferric reducing potential (FRAP) assay. presence alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, steroids, phenols, while terpenes tannins not detected. showed estimated flavonoid content 139.88 mg/g 34.46 respectively. Concentration leave required for 50% inhibition DPPH scavenging effect (IC50) recorded 565.45 μg/mL. At 1 mg/mL concentration, aqueous power 123.62 μmoles/mg FRAP These findings suggest activities. Overall, results obtained from support our finding can be an alternative synthetic antioxidants.
