摘要: Previously we described a transgenic mouse model in which neurofilaments are sequestered neuronal cell bodies and withheld from the axonal compartment. This other models with disrupted used widely to investigate role of neurofilament cytoskeleton normal neurons inherited or acquired diseases. To interpret such studies, it is important establish whether maldistribution has major secondary consequences on biology affected neurons. Notably, multiple perturbations nervous system simultaneously affect both neurotrophin expression. determine expression neurotrophic factors their receptors perturbed by primary disruption neurofilaments, compared accumulated mRNA levels for ciliary neuroptrophic factor (CNTF), nerve growth factor, 3, alpha CNTF receptor mature mice littermate controls. Consistently prolonged survival expressing atypical abnormally distributed no obvious changes were observed any species examined.
