摘要: Innate recognition templates (IRTs) in insects are developed through many years of evolution. Here we investigated olfactory cues mediating oviposition behavior the oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis, and their role triggering an IRT for site recognition. Behavioral assays with electrophysiologically active compounds from a preferred host, mango, revealed that one volatiles tested, γ-octalactone, had powerful effect eliciting by gravid B. dorsalis females. Electrophysiological responses were obtained flies clearly differentiated between treated untreated substrates over wide range concentrations γ-octalactone. It triggered innate response flies, overriding inputs other modalities required evaluation. A complex blend mango not containing γ-octalactone elicited low levels oviposition, whereas alone more response. Naive different rearing histories showed similar to Taken together, these results indicate selection is mediated tuned Our study provides empirical data on cue underpinning may also find use control operations against this invasive horticultural pest.
