摘要: The interface between collagen and the mineral reinforcement phase, carbonated hydroxyapatite (cAp), is essential for bone’s remarkable functionality as a biological composite material. very small dimensions of cAp phase disparate natures matrix are to material’s performance but also complicate study this interface. This article summarizes what known about cAp-collagen in bone begins with descriptions roles composites, phases bounding interface, growth growing within matrix, effect intra- extrafibrilar on determinations interfacial properties. Different observed interactions (collagen, water, non-collagenous proteins) reviewed; experimental results during loading reported their influence macroscopic mechanical properties; conclusions numerical modeling presented. data suggest interlocking (bending molecules around nanoplatelets) water-mediated bonding load transfer. review concludes areas where new research needed improve understanding how functions.
