摘要: Renewable resources are constantly increasing their share in energy systems around the world. This paper evaluates how capital cost of renewable technologies affects optimal configuration and an isolated power system, comprising only resources. HOMER software was adapted to include simulate pumped storage hydropower geothermal plants. Ometepe island, Nicaragua, selected as case study because wind, solar available, but more importantly, it has extinct volcano with a crater lake on its top that could be used upper reservoir for hydropower. When is considered, results show this technology able serve base load reducing required installed capacity other resources, well decreasing requirements excess electricity production. option not included, low complementarity time variable increases size wind parks , amounting up 6.5 times peak power, consequently rising The different system demonstrated economic aspects generation at least important natural availability.
