摘要: Benzene chemisorption on Pd(111) and Pd(100) crystal faces at 300 K has been studied by high-resolution electron-energy-loss spectroscopy thermal desorption spectroscopy. Our results indicate that benzene chemisorbs associatively only one site is \ensuremath{\pi} bonded with its ring plane parallel to the metal surface. Thermal studies adsorption partially reversible, decomposition evolving ${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$ leaving a carbon-covered surface as competing mechanism desorption. The similarity of vibrational spectra led us propose new model for transition-metal surfaces involving lower adsorption-site symmetry (${C}_{s}$) than previously suggested.
