The Role of Mitochondria in Vascular Calcification.

摘要: Vascular calcification (VC) was defined as the ectopic deposition of calcium-phosphorus complexes on blood vessel walls. It a process involving multiple factors and mechanisms, covering phenotype transition vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) release microvesicles. common end-stage alteration chronic diseases such cardiovascular disease kidney disease. Increasing evidence indicates that mitochondria were involved in development VC. Mitochondria provided energy to cells, maintained stability cell functions, participated variety biological behavior. Oxidative stress, autophagy, apoptosis, mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) damage could affect VSMCs by function. This article reviewed mechanism role VC, aiming raise novel insight into drug clinical treatment.
