摘要: This work concentrates broadly on linguistic theory and the methodology thereof, criticizes role intuition plays, suggests a gradual replacement of intuition-based data with neurological to remedy problem. It argues that linguists can exploit evolutionary design brain solve interface issues that, as technology becomes more sophisticated, will yield fine-grained inform detailed theories syntax, semantics, etc. hypothesis is demonstrated through review which attempts categorize some phenomenon (e.g. Gricean maxims, indirect speech, etc.) either semantic or pragmatic in nature. Specifically, it argued Theory Mind, cognitive ability distinct from Language Faculty, right hemisphere are essential felicitous use speech. Following this, two-channel model communication, where speakers communicate meaning-altering information not just linguistically, but also Mind processes, better equipped characterize relevant than current one-channel models; two channel proposed minor alteration Inquisitive Pragmatics (Groenendijk Roelofsen 2009). Some other implications discussed include assumption nativism (which defended poverty stimulus argument style (Pullum Scholz 2002)), universality Maxims an appeal cheater detection (Cosmides 1985) logic evolution). adheres principles psychology argumentation draws upon findings said approach explain selected empirical observations arise throughout argument. Thus, this best characterized philosophical hopes be seen first, modest step toward integrating theory.
