摘要: A diagnosis of gastrointestinal food allergy was suspected in nine infants who had protracted diarrhea infancy. To delineate a consistent response to antigen challenge that would be characteristic for this category with allergy, stools were evaluated the presence blood, leukocytes, and carbohydrate before after feeding. Each infant received two separate single challenges cow milk soy, respectively (total 18 challenges). positive seen 14 challenges, consisting fecal blood occurring within 12 hours. Vomiting (eight 14) transient malabsorption (ten frequently associated responses challenges. slight increase serum level βIC globulin peripheral polymorphonuclear leukocytosis following all response. Eleven additional chronic not due or soy negative did develop post challenge. All (controls patients allergy) failed meet criteria proposed acute formula, also tolerated formula on long-term basis.
