摘要: The Seychelles-Chagos Thermocline Ridge (SCTR) is a key region which plays major role in various regional climatic processes at all time scales. vertical mixing the base of mixed layer may be climatically important this region, where shallow thermocline and highly variable wind activity exists. In study, we provide evidence strong associated with near-inertial waves (NIWs) using microstructure profiler series data during boreal summer 2014. During it was observed that surface turbulent mostly confined kinetic energy dissipation rate order 10−6 Wkg−1. Elevated 10−7–10−6 Wkg−1 also (60–100 m) entire period observation. estimated diffusive heat flux across (100 Wm−2) moderate downward (~ 30 noticed region. analysis showed NIW triggered by event were responsible for high deeper depths. higher-mode create elevated shear layer, leads to enhanced mixing. study possible internal tides on subsurface NIW-induced have balance active SCTR.
