Improving energy efficiency of cyclone circuits in coal beneficiation plants by pump-storage systems

摘要: A pump storage system (PSS) is introduced to the coal preparation dense medium cyclone (DMC) plants improve their energy efficiency while maintaining required supply. The DMC processes are very intensive and inefficient because supply pumps constantly over-pumping. PSS presented reduce consumption cost by introducing an addition circulation loop. corresponding operation optimization problem in scheme under time-based electricity tariff formulated solved, based on which financial benefits of design investigated using life cycle analysis. case study status a South African mine carried out verify effectiveness proposed approach. It demonstrated that can be reduced more than 50% studied 160 m3 tank. According analysis, Option 1 yields annual 38% reduction overall for beneficiation plant with payback period 2.68 years.
